A Road to Success Story

Good News Everyone!  Since our big demo at the PSU convention, not even one month ago, we have 3 locations now interested in starting handicapable square dance clubs.  Now, to the best of our recollection and research, the Hakuna Matatas are the only Modern Western Handicapable Square Dance Club in the state.  But, that will hopefully soon change for the better.

The 3 new sites are the North Hills in Pittsburgh, which will be led by a couple of dancers and a brand new caller.  The couple ministries to special education and the husband is legally blind.  And, he is a square dancer.  Great people!

The second is from the DuBois/St. Mary's area.  A gentleman from that spot has been corresponding with me through emails, and is quite excited about getting something started.  I do have a CD that I made for the wheelchair square dancers and for the special olympics dancers.  He saw the demo and was delighted.

The 3rd, is interesting.  They are closeby from Huntingdon couty.  They actually came into the dance the other night and had a blast.  Several of our angel dancers, from that area will be quite helpful in getting the club started.  And, Tom and I are teaching another newer caller to call for this audience.

I am so happy and impressed that things are picking up for handicapable square dancing.  Does anyone know how we can make this a SPECIAL OLYMPIC EVENT?

What's next for the HAKUNA MATATAS?  National Handicapable Dance Convention in late June in Mobile Alabama.
