A Father's First
June 20, 2007 - 8:11am — ecooley
I had my first Father’s Day on Sunday. Ethan my beautiful 7 ½ month old son and my sweet wife Stephanie planned a delightful
day for the family. It would be a laid back day as Stephanie and I both are laid back kind of people.
day for the family. It would be a laid back day as Stephanie and I both are laid back kind of people.Stephanie woke up in the morning and went downstairs to make breakfast. I got the opportunity to wake up Ethan. He was already awake and when I entered the room he looked up and smiled. I hope you have had the opportunity to witness a child’s first smile of the day. It is the most beautiful moment. So much promise and trust in that little two tooth grin
Ethan and I got dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast where I enjoyed eggs, bacon, toast and homemade blackberry jam. I fed Ethan cereal, fruit, and yogurt and he got to sample some of his mom’s jam. The whole family gathered around the morning breakfast table was a delight. Ethan babbled to Stephanie and I. We laughed at his cheerful pronunciation of “dada”.
The afternoon was spent at the home of my in laws. We had such a marvelous time Ethan’s grandpa Crawford made steaks and Grandma Crawford made corn, pasta salad, and we had strawberries for desert. The rest of the day was spent opening cards and sitting on the front porch overlooking the farm and pond. Ethan was held and entertained by everyone. Grandpa Crawford got his picture taken with Ethan, his first grandchild.
The day ended with Ethan and me opening the card and presents from Mom and Ethan. They were two books I could read to Ethan and a lovely card. Mom did a nice job picking those gifts. As I gave Ethan his final bottle that night I prayed to God and thanked him for this most blessed day and the most precious gift of being a Dad.

Get ready - Dad's ride free at DelGrosso Amusement Park on Father's Day, the kids love to show their daddy a great time. Your laid back day will be fun filled Pop! Be sure to take your Dramamine!
From what I have seen so far, you are a great father and a solid testimony to all the other young dads who see the example you set. I trust they are paying attention.
Thanks Jack
I was at Delgrosso's the Friday before Father's Day. It was a lot of fun but I found myself getting sick on the Pirate Ship ride. Thank you for the nice comments. I enjoy being with my son.

Such a kid!
That little guy gets cuter everyday.
(Oh . . . and you, too, Erin.)
I agree...
Probably not healthy to brag but I think he is a cute child. Thanks for the comments. He is a big kid. 24 pounds and over 30 inches long.
