Grocery Store R & R
This afternoon my mother-in-law and I traveled to State College, PA for a little Wegmans grocery store R&R. Can you really find relaxation in a grocery store. On a weekday in this specific store you can. With produce from around the globe, organics - frozen, fresh, and boxed - right down to face cream, and cheeses with names that are a joy to read, I cannot say enough about this exciting way of shopping. From years of experience I can say that to have this grocery experience you must visit on a weekday because on a weekend the store is overflowing with hundreds of frenzied shoppers that I am sure are not enjoying the "show". The choose your own candy department has a large working train that continues to travel overhead and today a young boy was answering the whistle of the conductor. Beautiful pots of calla lillies, orchids, and easter lillies adorned the entryway enticing shoppers as they enter the store. I have fun looking at the odd items not exactly hidden, but if they are not on your shopping list, you might walk past and miss them. Truffles at one hundred dollars a pound, pork crown roast (which I served at Christmas dinner two years ago) complete with gold crowns, and pate. Odd items, but if you enjoy the food hunt, who knows what might turn up. I guess my love of food really started with Mom's cooking - probably there are very few out there who do not have a favorite meal that their mother or grandmother cooked. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Food Network and their awsome shows that make one dream of their next meal. It is so nice to have this inspiration to cook and experiment with new foods and share them with family. The family table is where so many wonderful memories are made. Enjoy your food experiences near and far and think of them as memory makers.

Grocery Store
I agree that Wegman's offers a uniqe experience, full of wonder. I've taken a liking to their baby vegetables; each package is a little more than enough for the two of us, but that way we get more of what we need. Wegman's also publishes a wonderful magazine filled with cooking ideas and in-depth information about where in the world they seek out various items. I think I get this via US mail due to my shopper's club status.
So many stores now are paying attention to the way goods are displayed. It definitely impacts the shopping experience. When you can tune out the hustle and cacophony that is everyday life on the street, many stores become places of wonder. We have a richness of experience in our lives that is unknown to much of the world . . . Enjoy! Anne H.
