APRR: Level between Planes 3 and 4

Location(s)

APRR Bridge
Lilly, PA
See map: Google Maps

The location of Plane 3 of the Allegheny Portage Railroad is not precisely known.  It has probably been destroyed by the construction of the Mainline.  But much of the level between Planes 3 and 4 follows PA Route 53 between Cassandra and Lilly.  It diverges from this course west of Lilly.  In Lilly, an original culvert of the APRR survives and still bears the coal trucks and other traffic of the highway.  Even the wooden floor of this culvert is still intact.
