See map: Google Maps

Bradford County, PA was formed on February 21, 1810 from Lycoming and Luzerne counties. Originally named Ontario County, it was renamed for the second U.S. Attorney General, William Bradford, in 1812. The county seat, Towanda, was incorporated in 1828.  Located in northern Pennsylvania along the Susquehanna River, General Sullivan and his army had several camps here as they made their way into the Iroquois country of southern New York during the Revolutionary War.  Bradford County is crossed by scenic US Route 6.
