A Handmade Christmas

A recent online poll conducted by Michaels Stores Inc., a majority of shoppers say they plan to spend more money on homemade gifts, while cutting back in some of the season’s most popular categories, including electronics, toys and travel.

It is a bit refreshing this holiday season to know that people are taking the time to make gifts. I can recall many stories from grandparents about stories of handmade dolls, wood carved figurines, and I can even remember making handmade Christmas Tree decorations.

We treasure the handmade items. My parents Christmas Tree use to have more clothes pin reindeer, hand sewn santas, and homespun picture frames than fancy Christmas ornaments. On Storytrax.com we have stories of cookies, Christmas cards, and other handmade items.

What are you making for your loved one this year? I would love to learn to carve. Perhaps I would carve my two year old boy a new car or truck.
