The Ultimage Navigator

My wife and I love to go for a drive. While I sit behind the driver’s seat she sits in the seat next to me with map in hand and tells me what road to take and when I need to make a right or left turn. I don’t care what is beyond the next turn; I just need her to tell me when I need to make the next change in direction. Sometimes, I think I know better and will navigate and drive at the same time. Invariably, I get us lost on a strange road.

In many ways that has been my relationship with God lately. I get into trouble when I take things into my own hands. I decide to navigate while driving and I end up doing to many things at one time. I do not listen to God’s direction and I find myself on a bumpy, bizarre road. I get carried away thinking about things I can not affect. I am lost.

When I hand the map back to my wife and I listen to her navigate, the drive is enjoyable. When I spend time with God, and pray with him, and study him. I do not worry about what is to come; I simply  drive and let God navigate.

Right path

Many people wrongly believe that we are born good and our actions make us bad/sinful.  Not even close. The Word of God tells us just the opposite, “Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one”.   All are born bad, and we can do nothing to correct our sinful state short of turning to God to save us.  Once we understand our sinful ways, relying on God’s map for our lives makes sense.  Don’t expect things to be easy though.  The devil will make sure of that.  Just remember, God’s chosen people spent 40 years in the wilderness on a journey to the Promised Land that should have taken no more than a few weeks.  They kept arguing about the proper way to read the map rather than relying on God!
