St. Pat's Day During Holy Week
March 17, 2008 - 8:08am — Corys_Stories
St. Patrick's Day during Holy Week, the week preceding Easter when Catholic Church rules dictate that no mass can be celebrated in honor of any saint -- Patrick included.
The fact that it has caught some people by surprise should be no surprise: It's the first time since 1940 that St. Patrick's Day, March 17, has fallen during Holy Week, the church's most somber time. And it won't happen again until 2160.
How does that happen? The last one was 68 years ago and the next one, not until the next century? That means EASTER won't be this early again for a good while too.
