Good or Bad?

About a week ago I had to put down a rabbit. My dad did it for me. But still it is not easy to do. It wasn't even weened yet. It had a sickness that they are born with,it is called Malluclousen. It is were there top teeth overlap the bottom teeth. The only thing you can do for it is trim there teeth. His was bad enough that we had to put him down. But as I was thinking, I thought "He's happy because he's not hurting & I'm not hurting because he's not hurting. So I guess it's good and bad.

Never Easy

When I had to make the decision to put my my dog Kalika down, it was the most difficult decision I had to make. Never easy when you are close to the animals you love. I have had to do the same thing with some kittens that we had around the house. One was suffering. It does not make it any easier. You made a good decision. Sounds like you have the right perspective.

Jack had to deal with a similar situation. You can read his story here..... http://www.storytrax.com/node/1179

I Remember.......

I remember Kalika. I also can picture the kittensin the barn,we would try to catch them until they ran over the hill. I also remember they kept disippearing. It is hard. Luv ya Uncle.

Good thoughts

Sorry to hear about your rabbit. It's always tough to lose a friend, even the little white furry ones.

Does anyone know what causes this condition? Is it genetic? Maybe you'll be inspired by this to be the scientist who figures it all out.

ARBA

It is genetic. Here are some websites:

Good insight

I think that is very good insight to the situation.  It takes a lot of courage to let something dear to us go, especially when it is so sweet and vulnerable.  I, for one, am a firm believer that the animals we love in this life are waiting for us in the next one....most of my animals have been dogs, but I've got a sweet parakeet waiting for me too.  As do you with your rabbit.

Good News!!!!!!!!

I strongly hope you're right. I want to see my 4 goldfish and my 2 bunnies again. My 1st rabbit's name was Carol. She was a meat rabbit (raised mainly for meat) I got for my birthday. My little brother gets up at 6:00 and he went out to see her, he opened her cage and she jumped out. Our dogs were out and bit her, she had to go to the vet and they put her to sleep.

Mr. Rogers talks about Death

"It is only natural that we and our children find many things are hard to talk about. But anything human is mentionable and anything mentionable can be manageable. The mentioning can be difficult, and the managing, too, but both can be done if we’re surrounded by love and trust."
