All is calm, all is fabulous---then all is back to status quo

Isn't the hubbub wonderful?  Isn't it great to be on the go go go, then relax relax relax?

But then there is the letdown.  Even After-Christmas sales can't improve the mood.

December 26th has always been my least favorite day of the year.  As a kid it was that the presents were all gone and the anticipation was over.  Now it's that all the weeks of preparation and all the excitement of seeing the kids and family, wham bam thank you ma'am -- it's ovah!  UGH!!

Yesterday for us was AOK, b/c we stayed in PJs and Al and I earned PhDs in 'Some Assembly Required."  But today we spent some time paying bills, and tomorrow I've got to actually LEAVE the house and go to the bank, run other errands, and in less than a week will be back to work.  And i know I'm blessed to not been forced to go back the 26th.  But how wonderful it was to cocoon ourselves in our house and its bounty of presents, food, warmth and love.  And how wonderful that it seemed the whole world, sans Sheetz and WalMart, seemed to stop and enjoy the same in its own measure.

Here's to carrying that cocoon in your hearts into 2008.
