Don't Toss Out Those Eggs

After spending hours preparing and coloring eggs it seems wasteful to throw those eggs away. I am sure people would appreciate a new recipe for the use of those hardboiled eggs. read alert

We've Got HIGH HOPES

My mother always wanted a horse since she was a little girl.  And, I believe for one of her birthdays, she bought herself an Arabian Horse named Sancia ( pronounced Sancha ).  A few years ago she got actively involved in a Therapeutic Horsebacking Riding Group called HIGH HOPES INC. What a fantastic organization!  This group helps children with disabilities forget about their worries for awhile, by allowing them to play cowboys and cowgirls. It is an incredibly remarkable sight. Please take the time to read all about what they do at their website, and get involved with them in some way, shape or form.  You'll be thankful you did. I know I am.  I am very VERY glad I got to know these marvelous people. ( click on the high hopes inc. wording in red )

As I thought about 'what can I do' to lend a helping hand to High Hopes Inc., a uniquely bizaree idea popped in there.  How about calling a square dance for them, in or around the BIG OLD RED BARN they have at the farm.  But how about square dancing on horseback?  Okay, my story is a lot clearer to understand, as told in this little video documentary.  Enjoy the show, and please join us at High Hopes Inc.

Cory calling square dances to kids on horseback.

Here's what a traditional horseback riding square dance group would look like.  8 riders ontop of 8 horses.

Most of these equestrian groups perform at Rodeos, Farm Shows and County Fairs.  There's a lot of work that goes into these types of demonstrations.

When I lead the horseback riding group of dancers, as you can see, our set up, at High Hopes, is a bit different.  For each horse, there is a rider ontop, a leader in front and 2 spotters (side saddlers) on each side.  By the way, we only use 4 horses and we love our volunteers.  You can see, with just the two horses in the above photo, there are 6 volunteers.

Our friends and volunteers are very dedicated, kind hearted folks. If you know someone who you think would love assisting with our riding program, & would like to hang out with us, down on the farm in Greenwood, PA feel free to contact us.

* If you like the outdoors, children and horses, this is a great activity for you to volunteer your time, talent and tools.

* If you like what we do at High Hopes and you'd just like to come and watch, that's great too!  We love cheerleaders!

* Some want to come out to the barn, but can't make it.  You can also make a contribution or donation to High Hopes, Inc.

* We also have a big fundraiser once a year called 'A NIGHT AT THE RACES'.  It's a great benefit.  Check out our site.

(Remember, the square dancing is only a very small part of this wonderful program.)
