The Tunnel In The Basement

You've seen it in the movies a million times. Bunch of little kids discover some cool thing that's been lost for centuries, and have an adventure. Well, I've been there.

In Search of Treasure

Since moving into my home three years ago, I've learned considerable amounts of it's history. My place was built in 1884 by a Civil War vet, and his granddaughter killed herself here in 1905 and still haunts the place. It was reworked in 1942, though parts of the house are still original. It passed through several owners before I bought the place in 2003.

Maria Molson

Maria Molson, born January 30, 1825, to James and Betsy Cook of Lycoming County, lived at 19 East Water Street, Lock Haven. During the Civil War, she operated a station on the Underground Railroad at this address, allowing the slaves to stay in her house before their next stop in Renovo. From there, they went to Olean, new York.

Jerry Church

Jeremiah Church, founder of Lock Haven and Cinton County, was born December 11, 1796 at Jericho, New York (now Bainbridge.)
